School's Out for the Summer!
May 29 - August 14, 2012.
New school year begins: August 15, 2012.
Welcome to Saint Mary's Hall Summer Reading 2012
(The summer reading pre-order sessions is now closed. Students needing 2012 summer reading materials will need to order their book directly from one of the major booksellers such as Barnes & Noble or Amazon. Students may still find their summer reading assignments and the ISBNs for the required reading on this site. Should you have questions, please contact one of the SMH library staff.)
In an effort to create a rich Summer Reading Program, Saint Mary's Hall Department Chairs and library staff have collaborated to create an accessible web-based resource for students and parents. Students participating in the 2012 Summer Reading have access to all of the 21st Century reading and research tools they need to complete their summer assignments. Tabbed-searching provides SMH students and their parents with access to any grade level summer assignment (Forms 1-12).
To make completing the summer assignment easier, writing tools such as Webster’s Online Dictionary, the Visual Thesaurus, SMH Library catalog, as well as all of the library’s subscription databases are easily accessible from this page.
The Upper School/Middle School library program endeavors to provide students with a rich learner-centered environment by:
- Providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats;
- Providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas;
- Collaborating with other educators to plan, design, teach and evaluate information literacy learning experiences to meet the needs of all students;
- Demonstrating effective leadership strategies in the administration of the program and in making connections to the broader learning community.
